Special Educational Needs and /or Disabilities
All children will have equal access to teaching and learning and our SEND policy ensures that teaching is fully inclusive. We aim to plan for continuity and progression and once children move to secondary education. We recognise the entitlement of all pupils to a broad and balanced curriculum. Our governors will ensure that appropriate provision made for all pupils with SEND. Our SEND report and policy documents outline what we can offer your child so that they can have equal access to the curriculum and make progress in their learning.

The following steps are taken to prevent any pupils being treated less favourably than other pupils.
We aim to:
- promote good inclusive practice and we ensure that all of our pupils are treated fairly and equally.
- make reasonable adjustments to ensure that disabled persons are not at a disadvantage. ensure that there are plans in place to enable full access to the site and to the curriculum for all pupils.
We will continue to work to:
- eliminate discrimination that is unlawful under the Disability Discrimination Act.
- eliminate harassment of those with a disability
- promote a positive attitude towards disabled persons
- encourage participation by disabled individuals
- take steps to take account of disabilities even if this involves on occasions treating disabled persons more favourably
How our school promotes inclusion:
We work in partnership with families and outside agencies to maximise our pupils’ educational opportunities.
We have good systems in place to support all pupils and these include:
- Effective links and practice with the Enhanced Mainstream Specialist Support for pupils with identified Social and Emotional difficulties.
- Effective links and practice with Healthcare professionals for support for pupils with identified medical needs.
- Radio Aids / carpeted classrooms to benefit pupils with hearing impairment.
- Window blinds to benefit pupils with visual impairment.
- A team of support staff to support access to the curriculum for pupils with identified special needs.
The school has a developing Accessibility plan to outline the governing body proposals regarding how it intends to increase access to education for disabled pupils.
